"Architecture is not an image of society, or a trace it leaves, or other likewise metaphorical stuff, it is very simply an intrinsic part of how we live. Forms do not stand in the way of that, like many of multi-layered aspects of making environments, they are both results and effects. But it is crucial we initiate these processes and keep asking new questions of how we want to live and where we want to be. There is certainly still some way to go."

"The transformation techniques we apply to the forms have consequences; they suggest rearranging the way we live together. Good walls make good neighbors; [but] do intelligent, informed walls have the same effect? We apply [some] formal, transformational techniques to assemblages of use - what will the transformational effects of the building be? What kind of society does it suggest? We do not know; we are modeling the future, based on our experience of the past, and on tools produced to model faces and landscapes, and why not?
